Architectures of Water — Leiria, Portugal
On September 27, Luís Bittencourt presents Architectures of Water in a unique open-air setting: the Ondulada Bridge at Parque do Avião, Leiria, overlooking the river.
Bringing together contemporary percussion, sound, performance and water as both material and instrument, Architectures of Water explores the physical, poetic and sonic dimensions of this essential element. The performance brings together works by Tan Dun, Joseph Byrd, Toru Takemitsu and John Cage, alongside a new work by Rui Penha, transforming water into a source of resonance, movement and musical possibilities.
Presented on World Rivers Day, the performance creates a particularly meaningful encounter between music and landscape—placing the audience literally above the water, in a space where architecture, sound and the river become part of the same living environment.
