Luís Bittencourt will participate in the II Festival de Leitura da Maia, taking place from April 17 to 20. As part of the performance Leituras Improváveis (April 18, 6:00 pm), he will create a live sonic landscape that unfolds during and between the readings, shaping an immersive auditory environment that connects text, voice, and space.
Leituras Improváveis brings together figures from music, literature, and journalism to reinterpret canonical works of Portuguese literature in unexpected and provocative ways, reactivating their themes in the present and foregrounding the texture and expressive force of language. The program includes excerpts from Os Lusíadas by Luís Vaz de Camões; Maria Não Me Mates, Que Sou Tua Mãe by Camilo Castelo Branco; and A Sibila by Agustina Bessa-Luís.
Through subtle textures, resonances, and sonic interventions, Bittencourt’s performance will “stitch” the readings together, expanding their emotional and symbolic dimensions while placing listening at the heart of the festival’s celebration of reading as a practice of knowledge and citizenship.
